Daily Gold News: February 27 – Gold Is Near $2,900 Again

Gold price extends its pullback as markets await more economic data.

The gold futures contract gained 0.40% on Wednesday, February 26, as it fluctuated following its Tuesday’s decline of 1.5%. On Tuesday, it pulled back from the last Thursday’s new record high of $2,973.40. Gold continues to fluctuate after its January-February advances. The market is moving sideways amid geopolitical news, economic data.

On November 14, gold was the lowest since mid-September after dropping in a reaction to the presidential elections. Gold extended its decline from the late October high, reaching a local low of $2,541.50.

The gold price is 1.2% lower, as it is trading along the $2,900 level. What about the other precious metals? Silver is 0.5% lower, platinum is unchanged and palladium is 0.8% lower. So, the main precious metals’ prices are lower this morning.

Yesterday’s New Home Sales release has been lower than expected at 657,000. Today, we will get the Preliminary GDP and Unemployment Claims releases at 8:30 a.m.
